About Us
The EPIC Mission
EPIC is designed to create a sustainable model to help individuals with disabilities access employment that provides competitive wages, working in integrated settings within the community, and providing opportunities for advancement.
EPIC is Employment First
Virginia’s policy as an Employment First state commits to pursue Competitive Integrated Employment for individuals with disabilities, including those with the most significant disabilities.
This is employment that:
- Pays wages that are not less than customary wages for same/ similar work.
- Provides interaction with non-disabled people to the same degree as others.
- Provides opportunities for advancement.
EPIC Participants
- Individuals currently working in subminimum wage employment.
- Individuals formerly working in subminimum wage employment.
- Individuals educated in self-contained special education high school settings who are at risk for subminimum wage/sheltered employment.
- Recent graduates educated in self-contained special education high school settings who are at risk for subminimum wage/sheltered employment.
