Join us for a conversation between John C. Walsh, Project Director of CIT-VR and Gary E. Horton, Founder and President of Vanward Consulting Services, LLC as they explore ways for State VR agencies to improve their strategies for engaging private sector businesses.
Gary E. Horton’s career spans over forty years in the Information Technology space spanning several industry areas including Automotive, Manufacturing, Logistics, Accounting, and Insurance He is currently the President of Vanward Consulting Services, LLC, and the creator of the Lean In! Program.
John and Gary explore the following areas to improve your capability to engage the private sector to improve employment opportunities for persons with disabilities:
- Understanding the “pain points” for businesses and how State VR agencies can offer solutions.
- Exploring the role of identity when interacting with members of the business community and why it is important to be aware how identity plays a role in personal interactions.
- Understanding how strength-based approaches focusing on linking the talent of VR participants to the business needs of employers is a win-win situation.
- Providing concrete actions steps to getting started on improving business relations that lead to better employment outcomes for VR participants.
