About Kenneth:
Dr. Kenneth C. Hergenrather serves as the Co-director of the George Washington University (GWU) Center for Rehabilitation Counseling Research and as a Full Professor of Rehabilitation Counseling with the GWU Rehabilitation Counseling Program. He has been faculty at GWU since 2001 and a nationally Certified Rehabilitation Counselor since 1997. Dr. Hergenrather has earned a PhD in Rehabilitation Counseling, a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling (MRC), a Master’s in Public Health Administration, and a Bachelors in Business Administration. He has authored more than 60 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has more than 150 national/international conference presentations. In the capacity of grant PI or Co-PI, he has been awarded more than $5 million in the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) long-term training grants.
Dr. Hergenrather’s areas of training include public administration, community development and systems engagement, community-based participatory research, program evaluation and systems change, strategic planning, rehabilitation counselor professional development, the intersection of poverty and disability, and employment needs of persons with disabilities including HIV/AIDS. He has served on the boards of the National Rehabilitation Association, the National Rehabilitation Counseling Association, the National Council on Rehabilitation Education.
Dr. Hergenrather serves on the Executive Board of the National Working Positive Coalition to further the development of national strategies to address the employment needs of persons with HIV/AIDS. He has more than 25 years of experience in program evaluation and assessment that includes the OSERS National Technical Assistance Center on Transition: The Collaborative (NTACT:C), the RSA Center for Innovative Training in Vocational Rehabilitation, and the RSA Vocational Rehabilitation Technical Assistance Center Targeted Communities. He also provides community capacity building and website development on the RSA Real Pay Real Jobs Education and Outreach, Partnership Development, Provisions of Individualized Services and Capacity Building. Dr. Hergenrather more than 30 years management and leadership experience working in both public and private sectors.
